The REMPLAN data science and software teams have been preparing for the new 2021 Census data.  Following each release, the teams will be working hard to ensure the timely publication of the data, analysis and insights via REMPLAN software, public-access profiles and data explorers.

First Release

Under the ABS’ phased schedule, the first release of 2021 Census data will include key population data about the people living in local government areas, and various statistical regions across Australia, as well as their families and dwellings.

The new 2021 Census data will be delivered via REMPLAN Community software and public-access profiles.

REMPLAN Community software incorporates Census data back to 1991, providing powerful insights into how our communities are changing over time.  These insights are an evidence base for guiding investment, infrastructure development and service delivery.

Like the ABS, we will apply a phased approach to updating REMPLAN Community software and profiles.  Updated reports will feature ‘2021 Census data’ badges, until the process is complete.

Second Release

The second 2021 Census release by the ABS, which is scheduled for October 2022, includes data about where people work, and the industry sectors they work in.  This delivers valuable insights into the composition of local economies and how they are changing over time.

The ABS location of employment by industry sector data will be delivered to clients via REMPLAN Economy software and profiles as new ‘2021 Release 3’ datasets.

Third Release

The third and final release of 2021 Census data by the ABS, which is scheduled for 2023, includes complex data topics that require additional analysis and processing by the ABS.  This includes ‘distance to work’, and socio-economic indexes for areas (SEIFA) data.

These complex datasets and reporting will be delivered via REMPLAN Community software and public-access profiles.
