REMPLAN Data Update – June 2018 Unemployment Rate

We are pleased to advise you that all public-access REMPLAN Economy and Community profiles have now been updated with the latest area-specific unemployment data (June Quarter 2018). This data has recently been released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Jobs and Small Business.

Over the year to June 2018 unemployment decreased in the majority of local government areas, with 60% recording a fall in their unemployment rate (compared to 61% over the year to June 2017 quarter). Large falls were recorded across the following local government areas:

  • Campbelltown (NSW),
  • The Hills Shire (NSW),
  • Wollondilly (NSW),
  • Mackay (QLD),
  • Redland (QLD), and
  • Wanneroo (WA).

 

A number of areas recorded rising unemployment, including:

  • Albury (NSW),
  • Northern Beaches (NSW),
  • Greater Bendigo (VIC),
  • Bunbury (WA),
  • Greater Geraldton (WA), and
  • Alice Springs (NT).

 

Across most states the data shoes a rise in unemployment over the year to June 2018, with Victoria, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory all recording a fall.
